Billboard Music Awards
STORY BY Talia Aroshas

Upon logging in to my AOL homepage Monday morning--yes AOL is still my homepage, I was inundated with a plethora of headlines regarding Sunday night’s Billboard Music Awards.
I’m sure most of you have seen them by now, but to recap, and in no particular order, they went something like this:
1) Justin Beiber Get’s Booed at 2013 Billboard Music Awards
2) Taylor Swift Wins 8 Awards at Billboard Music Awards
3) Selena Gomez and Justin Beiber Ignite rumer’s of a Rekindled Romance with Backstage PDA
4) Taylor Swift Makes Hilarious Gesture in Reaction to Gomez/Beiber PDA
5) Miguel Leaps off the Stage and Onto an Audience Member’s Head…(?)
There were a few more but these were my favorite. Now lets discuss them one by one.
First and formost, yes, this is indeed a thing that happened: Justin Beiber was BOOED by a good part of the audience, or at least enough to make themselves audibly hear, as he came to the stage to accept his win for the, fan voted, milestone award. This is, in itself, quite a head scratcher. Fan voted yet booed by the fans? Regardless, those hateful audience members do not get the last laugh—it is Beiber and will always be Bieber. After all, he is the one dominating pop culture, topping the charts, and yes, being talked about today because of this event. Beiber recoiled upon accepting the award by saying, “This is not a gimmick. I am an artist and should be taken seriously and all this other bull should not be spoken of.” This other bull being that of what I will speak of in my third topic. Sorry, Biebs.
Our next topic covers the “comeback” of the once media darling, now media condemned, Taylor Swift. 23 year old Swift has seen a rocky year of media backlash, jokes told at her expense, and name calling at the same time as her most recent album, Red, topped the charts and played straight to our hearts (rhyme intended). And with Sunday nights Billboard awards to prove it, when all is said and done, Swift is the reigning pop queen, the voice to a countless number of forlorn, love struck teens, tweens, and even adults, and also, a ridiculously talented songwriter. So if you have negative words to say about her love life, go ahead, say them—as she has proven time and time again (“Mean”), this can only fuel her brilliant fire.
Our third topic is pretty self explanatory: The Biebs and Selena may or may not be back together…(?)
And our fourth topic makes mention of Taylor Swifts unfavorable stance on said affectionate display between the two, which she made obvious by sticking out her tongue. Taylor, we agree.
And last, but most certainly not least, and yes, this also is a thing that actually happened in real life: During his performance of “Adorn,” Miguel made the impromptu decision to, well, leap from one side of the stage to the other and, therefore, leave two fans knocked in the head in the process. Smooth, Miguel, real smooth. Luckily for him, the audience member was also a fan and ecstatic to merely accept Miguel’s apology, invitation backstage, and friendship (as opposed to large sums of money she could possibly get were she to press legal charges). When asked about how she felt about the start, the fan was even able to muster up a punny “I adore him.” Well, in that case, I hope she also requested he take her to dinner.
