The Filth of New York City

STORY BY Mr. Rant

The trash and the filth: this is what we have to contend with in this cess pool we call New York City. Where does the money go that should be used to clean the streets? All the while cops seem to do nothing but blow their sirens and drink coffee; all of this is beyond me.

There isn't one person from the sanitation department with a garbage bag picking this filth up. It is disgusting and it's getting worse by the day. The garbage is literally imbedded in the surface of the streets and sidewalks. This isn't the greatest city in the world- it reminds me of Calcutta.

Can you tell me, what is the mayor doing? Holding "meetings"? And what positive change is coming from these "meetings"? There should be an army of city workers cleaning this filth from the streets every day. Then there is one very apparent TRUTH: you do not find this filth on Park Avenue or Sutton Place; it is only where the middle class is struggling to survive.

The soul of New York City is bankrupt, not just its financial sector. This is a disgrace. There should be a moratorium on the city: No one goes to work unless the city is cleaned. Otherwise we are just going to hell in a handbasket quicker than a blink of an eye.
